Why Your Morning Height Isn't Your Evening Height

Most people don't realize you're actually slightly taller when you wake up than when you go to bed. Throughout the day, gravity compresses the discs between your vertebrae. As you walk, sit, lift, and move, those discs lose a small amount of fluid, making you a little shorter by the evening. While you sleep, the pressure is reduced, allowing the discs to rehydrate and regain height overnight.

This daily change is completely normal, but it also highlights how much stress your spine experiences every day. Keeping your spine moving well, maintaining good posture, and staying active can help support healthy spinal function and keep you feeling your best. Your spine works hard for you every day. Taking care of it is one of the best investments you can make in your long-term health.
